It looks like you can build a Sub 300$ computer that should handle some light gaming, and leave room for upgrades down the road....Sans HDD anyways, and just using the Integrated video card.

I’m going to be slapping this together as soon as it all comes in from Amazon.

Motherboard

PSU

P rocesser (Allegedly comes with a fan, will find out soon)

Ram

Finally the super budget case

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I already ordered everything, so telling me I fucked up now is too late. This will be my first official computer build, Pretty excited about it to be honest. As well as absolutely terrified that I did this. I may go through the trouble of recording the unboxing and assembly and all that fun stuff.

Throw in a $7 0 Samsung SSD and you got yourself a decent computer.

Also, don’t forget the OS, etc.

I dont think you ficked up, but the gaming you can do without a legit GPUs is...limited.

I’ve got a 2TB SSD floating around, and some others somewhere. and I have windows 10 loaded onto a flash drive somewhere

From what I’ve looked into, you can run plenty of games at medium settings with similar setups to what I bought. I have a 2 gig video card, albeit not a great one, but I can always toss that in if needed, or just save up and get a decent one down the road.

There was someone who used the same processor and was averaging 70 FPS in dirt rally only using the integrated graphics, and most of what I play is racing stuff.

Ah, reminds me of my college days.  Set all graphics settings to “Low” and pray.

MAy be what I do haha

Most of my gaming is done on my shadow anyways, I just wanted a better computer than my 5 year old laptop to do editing of things, and other general use.

From what I read some of the integrated graphics these days are pretty good, good enough to game on if you are willing to do it on low quality.

Like you said though , y ou really can build a great PC on the cheap . My current “gaming rig” I built for ~$500 has lasted for the past 7 years with only an SSD upgrade. It may not cut it for today’s blockbusters but that’s what the new build is for :)

That should do nicely. I’m in love with AMD’s recent offerings, I have always been a fan of team red though...

I built a Ryzen 5 system recently and it’s a screamer for sure.

Yeah haha

Honestly, look into Shadow, unless you like doing your own build. I have a discount code I can hand out that saves 10$ on the first month.

But I mostly wanted to see what I could do, then after running it past the girlfriend who actually pushed me to pull the trigger, bought it all when I was shocked at how little it costs. I just wanna see how well it runs and if its viable for other people to copy.

From what I’ve read and looked into it should do some things well, but would need more ram and more Vram and processing power to get into heavy gaming.

I’m happy with AMD, my laptop and all my other computers I’ve kept for any length of time have had AMD processors, Never had an issue, always happy with the price for performance with them.

And looking at the Ryzen stuff I’m shocked.

Down the line I can always get a top of the line Ryzen, slap it in there and go.

So long as it’s the same socket, which from what I’ve read, AMD loves making sure things are BC

With an AMD chip, you should be ok. Granted even their best integrated solution is only about as good as a 1030, but that’s good enough to play a great many things (though not everything).

Obviously it will need a drive and OS, but it sounds like you have a plan there. Might also need a wifi adapter if you aren’t using ethernet.

That’s my discount code, a little goes to me along with your discount.

Honestly I’m happy with it, I was able to run Horizon 4 at max settings except 4k because my monitor isn’t that nice, and got over 100FPS consistently.

I’m probably going to run a cabled connection, although I have a dongle for the WIFI, the Spectrum provided router is rather shit.

I’m running a Ryzen 7/ RX580 machine now. The Ryzen chips are impressive right now. I’m going to guess you’ll want a dedicated gpu sooner or later, but that’s an easy upgrade. Gpu prices have even come back down to earth a bit lately.

I’m waiting on the collapse of the GPU market so I can get a decent chip cheap.

I have a dedicated gaming thing right now, I use shadow, so I don’t really need top of the line, just something to run basic games and mess around with in photoshop and other editing software.

I hadn’t heard of Shadow. That’s an interesting concept. How much data does it use up a month ? The main limitation I see is the potential for bumping against your ISP's data cap.

Minimal as far as I know.

Its effectively the same as streaming regular video.

I haven’t noticed any issue with my ISP, I use it more often than my laptop because my laptop is like 5 or 6 years old and struggles just opening the internet now.

If you are interested in checking it out and giving it a whirl I have a discount code I can hand out for 10$ off your first month,

NIC0XGRS

It took mine like a week and a half to get setup and I wouldn’t even go back to using my laptop by itself.

My biggest hang up is storage, in the US at least its only 256GB, but in Europe they have a 1TB option, and I’m hoping that moves to the states soon so I can go and download all my games.

Edit: It’s actually 15$ off your first month.

Definitely throw that code around haha

I get a kick back for my subscription.

So it helps me while it helps other people.
